USAID help for Boulton Market victims: American Business Council to hold interviews on January 25
American Busin-ess Council and the US government has announced a donation of Rs 1 billion as part of its 'Boulton Market Emergency Response Program' to aid victims who suffered in the Boulton Market destruction in Karachi on Monday, December 28, 2009. The American Business Council (ABC) is leading the efforts for disbursing these USAID funds among claimants.
The ABC is a Chamber of US businesses in Pakistan with the distinction of representing the largest group of single-country investors in Pakistan. The ABC will commence its verification process for claimants on Monday, January 25, 2010 to ensure effective and transparent distribution of funds. Victims of the destruction will be approached by an ABC representative for relevant information regarding their claims.
Those victims who are not approached can contact American Business Council, or their respective association president, to file claims. A list of all claimants will be published through a press release to ensure that none of the victims is missed out.
These rebuilding efforts reflect the spirit of community support by ABC members. The ABC currently has 70 members, most of whom are 'Fortune 500' companies, operating in various sectors ie healthcare, financial services, IT/communication, chemicals & fertilisers, energy/oil & gas, food & beverages, FMCG and others. ABC members incessantly focus on social & environmental issues and actively engage in CSR programs to improve the quality of life in the communities they operate in.-PR
