Vice Chancellor Sindh University (SU) Professor Dr Nazir A Mughal has urged the students to develop concept of civility among them and promote habit of learning and listening which is key for the personality development. He was speaking as chief guest at a combined welcome and farewell function organised in honour of new comer and passing out students of the Department of Public Administration SU.
Large number of students and their parents, members of civil society, senior teachers and students of the department were present on the occasion. Greeting the passing out students and welcoming the new students the Vice Chancellor said that education is only area which can be helpful for building of a strong society.
He said that good character always value in career development and added that respecting and listening to others is a part of civilisation, adding that hardworking in every area is key for the success in life. He said that after completion of education the youth will enter in new world and added that new world for them is full of hope. He said that there are a lot of expectation from youth to parents, society and also the University.
He advised the students to continue working hard and exploring the world through their abilities and qualities learned during education. He said that determination is important, as it helps achieve target of the life. Dr Mughal pointed out that after graduating from the University of Sindh, he was selected for foreign scholarship but at that time he did not have travelling expenses to USA and he requested Z A Bhutto who helped him in shape of a loan.
Dr Mughal said at USA he worked hard and during his first semester earned A grade and also earned fellowship on that basis. Dr Mughal said that during his first tenure as Vice Chancellor of the University he was opening up doors for the scholars and provided opportunities for PhD abroad and from the Universities of Pakistan. He advised the students to involve them in research and added that research is backbone of Nation and added that University students are lucky that all facilities required for education and research are easily available to them.
He said that the contact between the University and students is forever therefore aluminous must be constant in touch with their Alma Matter, their teachers and their friends. Addressing new comer students the Vice Chancellor said that new comer students must spent their precious time for education, do not obey wrong advise, do not involve in politics and be a responsible and apply their minds on their education.
Expressing great concern on disturbances on the campus and stopping of point buses the Vice Chancellor said that disturbance in education is a great loss of the students and nation. He said that for academicians his doors are open and announced that his one-day in a week will be dedicated for the students to come my office without appointment and share their problems freely.
