Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Tuesday said that report of Asian Development Bank (ADB) on rental power plants is a proof of inefficiency and administrative failures of the government. The senior political advisor to Chief Minister and PML-N senior leader Mohammad Pervaiz Malik told Business Recorder that the ADB's report shows that rental power plants would raise electricity tariff by 45-percent.
This reflects that the PPP-led government had no concern of the plight of countrymen who are overburdened by escalating price hike and high inflation, he added. The PML-N leader said that Pakistan can get rid of all problems provided its rulers' approach become positive.
"We will have to change the system to ensure fairness and honesty in public dealings," he asserted. He said that the PML-N has always supported the public cause and Mian Nawaz Sharif has given priority to national interest whether it is the matter of atomic explosion or to lead the people for the restoration of judiciary.
Answering a question about bye-polls, Malik said that the PML-N will decide its candidate for NA-123 on return of party leadership from foreign visit. He said that election campaign is underway and the PML-N candidate will be elected with thumping majority.
He further said that the PML-N will never allow to derail the system, however, the looters and grabbers of national exchequer will not only be exposed but the looted money will also be recovered. Moreover, reacting to TV interview of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Pervaiz Elahi has set a new record of falsehood and lies in the history of the country.
"Elahi's assertions regarding purchase of expensive vehicles, fraud in Bank of Punjab and the loans of Sharif family was merely a bundle of lies," he said, adding, he was ready for a debate with him on these issues on any public forum, including television. However, he said that whoever proved wrong in the debate will have to quit politics.
He said that the record of Bank of Punjab proves that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi appointed Hamaish Khan as its Chairman in violation of rules and regulations despite objections of State Bank of Pakistan. He said, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi also told lies about his and Sharif brothers' loans as Sharif Brothers had not taken any loan from the Bank of Punjab.
He said that the document shown about the loans of Sharif brothers was a document of understanding and contrary to the allegation of Elahi, Sharif brothers had handed over their assets to the banks in 1998 for the settlement of loans in accordance with the decision of High Court. He said that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has told a white lie regarding purchase of expensive vehicles during his tenure.
He said that the claims of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi regarding foreign investment are also baseless. Senator Pervaiz Rashid further said that the falsehood of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, is also proved by the fact that he admitted utilisation of secret fund of Rs 340 million, and stated that the audit of fund was conducted, whereas it is a fact that audit of secret fund is not carried out. Another PML-N leader Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood said that the credit of restoration of the democracy in Pakistan goes to political workers, lawyers, media and the people.
