Under the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Health Department Punjab is being spent Rs 2286 million for the provision of free diagnostic and treatment facilities for Hepatitis. Under this programme, Aliza machines are being installed in pathological labs of teaching as well as DHQ hospitals in the province, Chairman Chief Minister's Taskforce on Health and Spurious Drugs, Dr Saeed Elahi said this here on Wednesday.
Dr Saeed Elahi said that Health Department is providing costly injections and medicines to the registered Hepatitis patients in teaching and DHQ hospitals. Dr Saeed Elahi further said that Hepatitis management committees have been constituted in hospitals, which after examining the patients register them for treatment.
He said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister Health Department has also launched non-communicable diseases (Blood Pressure, Sugar, Cardiac diseases etc) control programme in Punjab and for this purpose a separate wing of Health Education has been established in Health Department.
He said that there is a need for creating awareness in the masses for controlling diseases from spreading in the society. He said that effective campaign launched by the Health Department in print and electronic media has resulted in effective control of various diseases like Dengue fever and Swine Flu. He urged doctors and physicians to provide health education to patients and their relatives who come for treatment and consultation.
