City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal Khan said on Wednesday that eight new police stations would be set up in Rawalpindi district besides building more check-posts at different locations. Talking to newsmen here, he said that new buildings of police stations located at Jatli, Mandra and Gujar Khan would also be constructed.
He said the decision to set up new police stations and check-posts had been taken to further ensure protection of lives and property of the people. Rao Iqbal informed that personnel of all the police stations had already been provided bullet-proof jackets, which would be used in an emergency situation.
Responding to a question regarding security arrangements in forthcoming by-elections, he said Superintendent Police and Station House Officers had already been directed to ensure foolproof security arrangements in during the by-election in NA 55. He said the best security arrangements would also be put on place during the corner meetings and public rallies of all the candidates contesting the election. The CPO said that security would be provided to all the candidates irrespective of their political affiliations.
