"We are supporters of Taliban and we oppose the war against terror in Pakistan" said Maulana Sami-ul-Haq Chief of his faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday. He asked whether Richard Holbrooke is a viceroy of Pakistan who reprimands the politicians and rulers.
He asked under which capacity Holbrooke and other Americans were wandering in Pakistan freely. He strongly condemned the controversial statements of Holbrooke describing them an attack on Pakistan's sovereignty. Sami-ul-Haq said, "we are fighting the war of aliens which may lead to anarchy and infighting".
He called upon the people to stand against the Americans and tell the world that they are not with America. Maulana has said that the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and Charter of Democracy (CoD) are non-issues in the prevailing situation of the country. He said that the terrorism and foreign interference in the Pakistan's internal matters are the main issues faced by the country.
He was of the view that the national sovereignty and security was at the stake due to the policies of the rulers as they were following the American agenda and securing the interests of foreign powers keeping aside the national concerns. Time has come that every countryman especially the religious and political parties should come forward to play their due role for securing the national integrity, solidarity and sovereignty, he said.
