Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and Engro Foundation (EF) have decided to form an alliance to complement each other's efforts/activities and jointly fund Rs 250 million for provision of basic infrastructure, education, basic health and social sector services as identified by local stakeholders in districts of Ghotki and Sukkur in Sindh.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed by Kamal Hyat, Chief Executive/Managing Director, PPAF, and Tahir Jawaid of EF at PPAF Head Office in Islamabad for four years (January 2010-December 2013).
The PPAF and EF agreed to collaborate to contribute towards the cost of planning, design and implementation of small scale infrastructure projects like safe drinking water, sanitation, open drains, latrines, street surfacing, small bridges/culverts, basic health and education in view of the need of local stakeholders subject to mutually agreed terms and conditions in the aforementioned districts.
Socio-economic baseline surveys would be conducted in relation to the above mentioned thematic areas in the agreed timeframe to measure the impact of interventions/activities on the beneficiaries. All sub-projects would be implemented at cost sharing basis through a transparent eligibility criteria specific to the projects while PPAF would provide technical assistance for formulation and periodic monitoring along with the technical representatives of EF.-PR
