Withdrawal of risk allowance: LHC seeks reply from Punjab government by February 3
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought reply from Punjab Government by February 3 in a petition challenging withdrawal of risk allowance to ministerial staff of the police department. The court passed these orders in the petition of 17 employees of the department who pleaded that they and other employees were allowed Risk allowance equal to one basic pay.
All the employees of department are receiving this allowance since April 2009 but the finance department on January 8 issued a letter to Accountant General Punjab saying that ministerial staff of Punjab police is not exposed to risk so there is no logic to grant them risk allowance. The petitioners said the finance department could not withdraw it as the chief minister has already approved the allowance. They prayed to the court to restrain Punjab government from withdrawing the risk allowance.
