Small & Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) in collaboration with FCCI has decided to arrange a one-day training programme on "Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) Compliance in Pakistan", at FCCI. Regional Business Co-ordinator Smeda Zulqarnain Shahzad Sikandar stated that this programme has been designed for the business community, associations, professionals, especially from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and students.
The programme would enhance their capabilities regarding IPRs compliance (trade marks, geographical indication rights, copyrights and patents) its protection and related laws, while dealing with their day to day operations.
This could take place by following the questions explained in the training workshop, such as why IP registration? Benefits to the owner of business, what is IPR (trade mark, copyrights, patent, geographical indication rights), who can apply for registration and where to apply, what is the procedure for registration and duration of registration, what are the different rights, liabilities and remedies against registration, and different application forms.
