DCO Saeed Wahlah has directed the officers concerned to wipe out illegal and unauthorised private slaughterhouses and special campaign should be launched against the sale of substandard and unhygienic meat in the district to adhere to people's complaints in this regard.
Following complaints regarding the sale of substandard and injurious meat, he summoned the officers of district Livestock Department and directed them to carryout operation against the trend of slaughtering the animals, out of authorised official slaughterhouses.
He also stressed that government slaughterhouses should be visited regularly for ensuring the implementation of health principles and maintaining hygienic conditions. Slaughtering of weak and unhealthy animals should be discouraged, he added. The DCO further directed that stern legal action should be taken against the sale of water-adulterated, substandard and injurious to health meat, in the district, and good hygienic condition at butcher shops should be kept to check this menace regularly.
He said and then performance should be result oriented and visible to the citizens. The DCO Saeed Wahlah also presided over a meeting of District Co-ordination and Technical Committee to review the performance of District Population Welfare Office. He directed that the population welfare programme should effectively be implemented for achieving the desired results.
The DCO directed that the performance of field staff should be watched closely and action should be taken against the official showing poor performance. District Population Welfare officer Talat Mehmud Aftab informed the meeting that a total number of 87 welfare centres were working in the district for counselling, and providing necessary facilities of the Reproduction Health Centres had been extended up to Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals, besides the District Hospitals.
