The investors of the United States have some misperceptions regarding Pakistan and it is up to Islamabad to remove these apprehensions, said Brain D' Hunt, Counsellor for Political Affairs in USA Embassy Islamabad here on Tuesday.
"Pakistan is a vibrant market and both the governments have strong relations," Hunt said while addressing the business community during his visit to Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
The US would establish Reconstruction and Opportunity Zones (ROZs) in the war ravaged border areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan and the US Congress is likely to pass the legislation, he said, adding that the ROZs will bring positive change in the disturbed region especially tribal belt of Pakistan.
The US recognises sacrifices of Pakistan in the war against terror and Obama administration is looking for good partnership on equality basis with Pakistan, the US diplomat said, adding that both the countries have common interests and close co-operation.Hunt informed the business leaders of the region that many US companies are keen to invest in energy sector of Pakistan as several firms have already made investment in oil and gas sector. US will set up a scanning system at Port Qasim Karachi, due to which screening of some 46,000 containers exported to America every year would be made possible, he added.
He said that no discriminatory behaviour was meted out to Pakistani or any other passenger at the US Airports. "We are not talking about taking off the cloths of any visitor at airport, but every one visiting the US from any nation will have to go through normal security check," Hunt maintained.
