Punjab Agriculture-al Research Board (PARB) has launched a programme to take benefit of international agricultural research to meet the growing needs of the country, in the food sector. A meeting of the PARB executive committee held Tuesday to give approval of funds to 5 scientists for attending international conferences in USA, Singapore, Iran and other countries to present their papers and discussion on new ideas, research and technology.
The meeting was presided over by PARB Chief Executive Dr Mubarak Ali. The meeting approved funds for publishing two research articles of local scientists in international magazines for publicity of research work, being done in Pakistan at the international level. The meeting also decided to encourage maximum number of scientists to highlight local research work at the international forums. It also decided to promote research for protecting Pakistani wheat from different diseases.
Additional Secretary Agriculture Planning Jamshed Dawoodi and others attended the meeting. It may be mentioned here that the Punjab government has issued huge funds of Rs 673 million to promote agricultural research at national level to ensure increase in per acre yield.
