Shahid Rashid, Chief Executive Officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) is going to launch the first SME Subcontracting Exchange (SMEX) of the country today (Wednesday), January 27, 2010 at 3:00pm at Gujranwala Business Centre (GBC). The launching ceremony, besides the CEO, will also be addressed by Khalid Mehmood Chadha, President, Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A slideshow comprising on functions of the SMEX will also be presented, on this occasion. The SME Subcontracting Exchange to be launched has been established with the primary function of creating backward linkages between large enterprises with that of SMEs. It shall also encourage horizontal linkage amongst SMEs in order to compete with large enterprises. Such linkages will ensure better bargaining power and ability to capture newer markets by SMEs.
A large number of SMEs belonging to GCCI and other industrial associations will attend the ceremony. Moreover, a delegation including GMs and Provincial Chiefs from Smeda will also visit Gujranwala to attend the event. The delegation is also scheduled to visit the SME exhibition, arranged at the GBC.
