The students of Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), University of Sindh have developed Google Sindhi version, which was launched here on Tuesday. The project was displayed in the final year's projects-2009 in Open Day Exhibition at the Institute, which was inaugurated by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh.
Before inauguration of exhibition, a ceremony also took place at the Multimedia centre of the Institute, which was attended by large number of faculty members and students. Dr Shaikh appreciated regular exhibition of the projects developed by the Final year students of Information Technology.
Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili, Director IICT, highlighted objectives of the exhibition and projects. He said that 34 projects developed by students of BS Information Technology, 18 projects by students of BS Software Engineering, 15 by students of Telecommunication and 19 projects by Electronics students.
The Google Sindhi version is developed in supervision of Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili by four students of final year Farman Ali Chandio, Mehboob Ali Mirza, Sikandar Ali Khokhar and Athar Hussain Depar. Dr Ismaili while briefing about Google Sindhi version informed that this would greatly help to sought material in Sindhi language by searching on website. He said that the version would be made available at the IICT's website: iict.usindh.edu.pk.
He said that Institute was contacting with management of Google and the version would soon be made available through Google site. The students also developed a microcontroller based electrical wheel chair for the disabled persons with a very cheep cost. The project is developed by Suhail Ali Bhutto, Muhammad Abid Memon, Ahmed Hussain Abro and Yasir Ali Memon under the supervision of their teacher Ahmed Khan Leghari.
