The Sindh Assembly session on Wednesday was adjourned till Thursday morning due to the death of an MPA Co-operation Minister Abdul Jalil Memon. The assembly also paid tribute to Abdul Jalil Memon, victims of Ashura blast, death of MQM workers and other victims of target killings in the city. The session started more than half an hour late with the recitation from the Holy Quran.
Soon after the start of the session, Law Minister Ayaz Soomro requested the speaker to allow members of the provincial legislature to pay tribute to late Abdul Jalil Memon who met a tragic road accident on his way to district Badin on December 20, 2009. However, a large number of MPAs urged the speaker to include Benazir Bhutto, Zulfikar Bhutto, Shahnawaz Bhutto, Murtaza Bhutto, Irshad Haqani, Inqilab Matri, victims of the Ashura blast, innocent people who lost their lives in target killings, workers of the coalition partners MQM and other PPP local leaders.
Later, the House brought a joint resolution from both treasury and opposition benches including Ayaz Soomro, Jam Madad Ali, Sardar Ahmed, Faisal Sabzwari, Shoaib Bukhari, Mazharul Haq and Rafique Engineer. The resolution, which was unanimously passed, stated: "This House resolves and expresses the deepest grief on the sad and sudden demise of Abdul Jalil Memon in a road accident on December 20, 2009 and offers the heartfelt condolences with his bereaved family and friends".
