ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice Monday deferred matter regarding amendment in article 63A of the Constitution till next meeting.
The committee also decided to club the two identical proposals for 'The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Amendment of Article 63A) introduced by Senator Nawabzada Saifullah Khan Magsi and Senator Farhatullah Babar.
Senate body met here under the chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi and attended by other members including Saleem Zia, Sehar Kamran, Nehal Hashmi, Ayesha Raza Farooq, and Barrister Murtaza Wahab.
The committee decided to defer the matter due to absence of Senator Farhatullah Babar in the meeting.
The senate body also approved 'The Public Interest Disclosures Bill, 2017' introduced by Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid.
Briefing the members, the minister said the bill would help to protect from any kind of office victimization after any one pointed out corruption or irregularities in his respective department.
The law would help to curb the menace of corruption in government departments, he said.
The official of Law ministry informed the meeting that the complainer would also be booked for initiating false allegation against any one and his case would be trialed in lower court.
Senator Murtaza Wahab suggested that the complainer should also be protected if he reports the corruption acts at any forum other than the head of his respective organization.
