Giving warning of possible clash between the major state institutions, opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said that Pakistan Muslim League-N would fully support the judiciary for non-implementation of the apex court's verdict on National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) by the government.
Reacting to the Prime Minister's Wednesday speech in the House, Nisar said that it was unfortunate that the Prime Minister who earlier gave assurance to the House that his government would implement the apex court verdict in true spirit, has now in his policy statement in the House contradicted it. He added that now it seems that the possibilities of the clash among the state institutions have increased.
Nisar reiterated his party's earlier stance that it would stand by the government to foil any undemocratic move. He said if there were legal or constitutional issues involved in the implementation of the NRO verdict then the appropriate forum was the apex court.
Nisar said the President enjoys immunity within Pakistan and not abroad. He said the President has been referring to conspiracies and if he is part of the parliament then he should take the National Assembly and Senate into confidence as to who was conspiring against him.
He said that policy statement by the Prime Minister on the issue of NRO have increased the political temperature. He said it proved counterproductive and strengthened the impression of any sort of threat to the present system instead of lessening the doubts. "Were not the President's stormy statements sufficient and the Prime Minister have also contributed in fuelling the political temperature," he maintained.
