Leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said corruption has increased to an alarming extent in all institutions and there should be accountability of Asif Ali Zardari, Yousaf Raza Gilani and Shahbaz Sharif. He was speaking at a Labour conference organised by Workers Rights Commission here on Thursday.
"Indiscriminate accountability and exemplary punishment would eradicate corruption from the country. The Parliament and provincial assemblies failed to play their roles and to redress the grievances of masses and frame relief oriented laws and policies" he said.
"The disparity between have and have not must end now as it develops a sense of deprivation among the people. We will have to make efforts to oust Jagirdars, Waderas, Sardars, from the parliament. The present regime has written off the loan of Rs 2 billion following the suit of their predecessors, he said. He admitted that the current set-up could not come upto the expectation of the nation and warned that the country would further weaken if accountability was avoided.
The present regime failed to execute the work on economy-rehabilitation programme. He asked whether all were angels during Pervez Musharraf's era because no case of corruption was initiated against anyone. Nawaz Sharif had signed an MOU with the government of Japan for developing industrial zones along the motorway during his previous rule.
