US rice futures on the Chicago Board of Trade fell to their lowest levels in a week on Thursday, pressured by a firmer dollar and a lack of confirmation of rumoured export business, traders said. March rice settled 10-1/2 cents lower at $13.90 per hundredweight, after dipping to $13.76; back months finished down 11 cents to up 1/2.
CBOT estimated volume on Thursday at 1,3999 rice futures and 40 options. USDA reported export sales of US rice last week at 101,800 tonnes, 1 percent above the prior four-week average. Traders continue to await confirmation of rumoured business with Venezuela and Iraq, a broker said.
