Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa on Monday said that only political governments have initiated projects of public welfare, while the dictators, sold the water of three rivers, lost one half of the country and indulged in adventurism on Kargil.
Talking to the reporters here at King Edward Medical University (KEMU), the PML-N senior leader said that his party chief, Nawaz Sharif is a leader of national calibre and playing an active role for strengthening of democratic system. He said that a letter has been sent to the Prime Minister regarding the conduct and unconstitutional role of Governor Punjab and a strategy will be evolved in this regard within constitutional limits.
He said that former President Pervez Musharraf made amendments in the constitution only to prolong his rule and the present Governor Punjab was also appointed without the consent of Chief Minister. He said that 17th amendment and 18(2) B are the legacies of the dictator.
Replying to a question about increase in petroleum prices, he said that petroleum prices should be liked with international market and any increase should be made at the same ratio. Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, who is also former Governor Punjab said that Pakistan has been under martial law for 33 years out of 62 years of its existence during the remaining period democratic governments were not allowed to complete their constitutional tenure.
He said that no planning was made during the last 10 years of dictatorial rule to produce even one MW of electricity and now the nation is facing its consequences. He said that the present government has launched various projects for the provision of modern medical facilities to the masses, construction of new medical colleges to produce doctors, provision of educational facilities and initiated a number of development schemes and their timely completion is being ensured.
Earlier, inaugurating clinical doctor of physiotherapy (DPT), first batch, transitional doctors of physiotherapy (T-DPT) and MPhil classes in physiotherapy at KEMU. Senior Advisor to CM said that Punjab government believes that professional development activities lead to continuous improvement in the profession's standards and to greater public confidence in the services provided by physiotherapists.
He said that the scope of physiotherapy is broadened and the profile of physiotherapists and physiotherapy service delivery is changing rapidly. In order to move forward with physiotherapy, the development of a common vision and expectations should be considered, he maintained. He said that this vision would guide the future directions of physiotherapy in this area, and reaffirm the essential and unique role of physiotherapist within the Punjab Health Care System.
He said that at the same time, the vision would also position the physiotherapy profession as an essential player within integrated approaches and initiatives of the Punjab government. VC KEMU Professor Dr Zafarullah Khan, Pro-VC Dr S Awais, MS Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Professor Dr Naseer Mehmood Akhtar and Principal School of physiotherapy Saleha Bukhari also spoke on the occasion.
Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that four new medical colleges are being set up in the province to overcome the shortage of doctors and new training institutions would be established for doctors, paramedics, nurses and allied health sciences. He said that substantial resources are being spent for providing state-of-the-art facilities in health sector at local level. By increasing the health budget, the present government has ensured modern health facilities and free medicines to poor and resource less people, he said.
