The seventh batch of 432 tribal youth hailing from Khyber, Mohmand and Bajaur agencies have successfully completed their four month long skill development training course imparted to them by the Fata Rural Development Project (FRDP).
A spokesman for the Fata Secretariat Media Cell said here on Monday that trainees who have successfully completed skill development training in a wide assortment of trades such as welding, plumbing, refrigeration, A/C repair, auto mechanic, auto electrician, computer installation, driving and tailoring.
They were awarded with achievement certificates by Javed Iqbal, Deputy Director Fata Rural Development Project, here at the Government Technical and Vocational College Gulbahar, Peshawar.
A spokesperson for Fata Rural Development Project, Haroon Shinwari said that the prime objective of the skill development programme was to overcome the unemployment problem in the tribal areas by focusing on livelihood development through job creation. "At the centre of the skills development and improvement, we believe that such training should have a positive, purposeful and productive outcome", he added.
It was learnt that under the skill development component of the Fata Rural Development Project, thus far, more than 1,500 tribesmen have been trained and taught to excel in various market based and demand oriented trades. In addition to specialized training sessions, arrangements were made for the provision of a monthly remuneration amounting to Rs 4000 as well as lodging facilities for each trainee.
At its successful conclusion, the participants expressed satisfaction over the level of training and the facilities that were provided to them by the Fata Rural Development Project. One of the trainee appreciating the initiative in his words said, "a wide majority of us come from poor families so the monetary assistance provided to each one of us has been really helpful in enabling us to put our skills to good use". Khyber Agency grabbed five out of eight positions in assessment tests taken at the completion of the training.
