Acting Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association (S.Z) Shehzad Riaz in a press statement has expressed dismay over increase in oil prices once again. He said the hike not only contributes to high cost of doing business in the country but frequent increase in electricity, gas tariff and oil prices, in-traduces an element of uncertainly into business and makes it so difficult to commit prices and negotiate business deals especially for exports.
He pointed out that exports of leather were already down by 30 to 35 percent as compared to last year. The leather exporters are losing business to neighbouring countries due to higher prices. He urged the govt. to take the business community into confidence and formulate business friendly polices. The current approach is playing havoc with exporting industry in particular and deserves to be reviewed and reconsidered which he said could only rescue the national economy in the long run.-PR
