PP-111, Gujrat: Election tribunal disqualifies PML-N MPA

Election tribunal headed by a judge of the Lahore High Court here Wednesday declared disqualified to a PML-N MPA Haji Nasir Mehmood from PP-111, Gujrat. The tribunal also directed the election commission of Pakistan to hold re-polling in the constituency.
The tribunal issued these orders in an election petition filed by former provincial education minister Mian Imran Masood of PML-Q, a defeated candidate from the same constituency. Petitioner had taken a plea that Haji Nasir possessed B.A degree of a university, which was not recognised by Higher Education Commission (HEC). He had prayed to the court to declare Haji Nasir disqualified and order re-polling in the constituency.
