Pakistan Muslim League PML-Q Thursday called for sending an all parties delegation, possibly led by Imran Khan, to visit USA and persuade the US President Barrack Obama to reverse the wrong court verdict against Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her immediate repatriation to Pakistan.
The US ambassador to Pakistan should be summoned at the foreign office and be informed that the unjust verdict against Dr Aafia was not acceptable to the people of Pakistan and it will increase anti-American sentiments among the masses of Pakistan, which is already increasing day by day.
Addressing the participants of a protest demonstration against price hike and corruption, PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that the US court's decision against Dr Aafia was against the prescribed norms of justice as there was no proof or forensic evidence against her.
Mushahid was of the view that it was an issue of national dignity and an all parties' delegation be sent to the USA to convince US authorities that Aafia was not involved in any sort of terrorism instead she was a victim of state terrorism.
Prime Minister Gilani should make a policy statement at the floor of the Parliament over Dr Aafia issue, he added. Referring to the court verdict, Mushahid said this is a political verdict and in the absence of any concrete proof against Dr Aafia, this is a false case decided on political grounds.
Coming down hard on the government policies, he said that the government was not focusing on public issues and the rulers are only focusing on corrupt practices. Today, price hike has increased 300 percent up and the people now are remembering the unprecedented development works carried out under PML government," he asserted.
He said the rulers had disappointed the people of the country and the by-polls results of Swat and Mansehra reflect the masses hatred against the ruling alliance. He said his party was mobilising people on issues in all the provinces and the masses were giving a positive response.
He said his party had always adopted an issue based political agenda and its leadership had no fear from any individual or state. Referring to the Iraq War, Mushahid said his party government had refused to send Pakistani troops to Iraq despite pressure. President of PML Women's Wing, Farrukh Khan criticised the skyrocketing prices of daily use commodities and raise in petroleum tariff. Rejecting the petroleum prices raise, Farrukh Khan said life had become harder due to the price hike, while the rulers were leading a life of luxury.
"We reject the price hike and corrupt practices of the ruling elites. They are so much busy in their money making activities that they have no time to look after the misery of the poor people of the country," she added.
On the occasion, dozens of PML women held a protest demonstration against the price hike, corruption, Karachi killings and US court verdict against Dr Aafia Siddiqui. Chanting anti-US and anti-government slogans, the PML female workers called for immediate release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from the US prison and her repatriation to Pakistan.
