Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has prepared a comprehensive plan costing Rs 2.30 billion for producing skilled industrial force in the Punjab. Official sources told APP here on Sunday that under the programme training in modern industrial technologies and market-driven courses would be imparted to men and women.
The step has been taken to meet the growing demand of the industrial sector, which is facing serious problems due to the unavailability of trained and skilled hands in Punjab. The modern training programme will not only cater to needs of the industrial sector, but also generate employment opportunities in the province.
The industrial sector is facing a shortage of skilled and semi-skilled industrial workers, especially in major industrial towns like Sialkot and Gujranwala, in Punjab. The induction of trained and skilled industrial force will help improve the quality and volume of products, sources added.
