After a long dry spell, most parts of the country are receiving rains and people are compelled to stay indoors. The most attractive and delicious food item during the winter season is fried fish and as the rains have started, most of the fish shops are witnessing a great rush.
Kaleem, a purchaser at a fish shop waiting for his turn, told APP that it was chilly cold and rainy weather so he decided to celebrate the first winter rain by eating fish. "No doubt fish is the most delicious winter fiesta and I always enjoy fish when it is raining outside", he said. He said that in the normal days, they seldom feel like eating such a costly food item but in the rainy weather, they mostly prefer eating fish.
Meanwhile, it was observed that the rates of fishs shoot up at different fish shops after the rains. At one of the most famous fish shops at Chandni Chowk, the price list showed that Finger Fish was being sold at Rs 500 per kg. Other prices include Lahori Rahu Rs 460 per kg, Mushka Rs 400, Sangara Rs 400 and Rahu Rs 400 per kg. It is a fact that like other food items, there is no given price of fish by the government and most of the shops in the twin cities are selling this winter-exclusive sea food on their personal whim. Ultimately, fluctuation in the prices most of the times curtails the excitement of this food.
