The Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (LABARD) has planned to organise a series of seminars and workshops to have focused discussion on the specific issues related to various types of disabilities and also for creating general awareness.
The first seminar of the series "Challenges in Education, Welfare and Rehabilitation of the Persons with Hearing Impairment" would be held on February 11 at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The convenor of LABARD Vocational Training Centre Ahmad Shafiq is co-ordinating the seminar. A large number of experts and stakeholders would address on the topics of early detection and management of hearing impairment, significance of early screening at local level, education and employment opportunities for the hearing impaired, standardisation of the sign language and problems faced by the hearing impaired persons.
