The Chief Election Commissioner has fixed March 3 as last date for receipt of applications to get postal ballot papers for elections in the PS-15 Jacobabad-III constituency of Sindh province.
This facility, under the law, has been extended only to the persons in government service, members of Armed Forces, holders of public offices, their wives and their children who are registered voters and ordinarily reside with them provided they are stationed at a place other than the place in which their constituency is situated.
Persons detained in prison or held in other custody are also entitled to vote by postal ballot. While, polling personnel and police personnel posted at the polling stations other than their respective constituencies can get postal ballots by March 8, said a press release.
Prescribed applications forms should be submitted with the Returning Officer of the constituency Deputy Election Commissioner Sukkur. Application Forms for postal ballot can be obtained from the said Returning Officer. The voters to whom postal ballots are issued will not be entitled to vote in person at the polling stations. The applications should be forwarded/endorsed by the office/department of the voter concerned to guard against unauthorised person apply for postal ballot.
