Chairman, Site Association of Industry (SAI), Saleem Parekh, has raised serious concern over non-resumption of routine work at Inland Revenue Office (IRO) at Income Tax building. He informed that after amalgamation of sales tax department with income tax being a new entity as Inland Revenue Service, all routine matters are almost halt as stand still position.
The refund claimant of stream category, which pertains to the high net worth large scale exporters are not even start receiving monthly refund claims in Inland Revenue, he afraid that large number of genuine and bona-fide refund claims would become time barred without any fault at their part which ultimately add further misery to existing tough working condition.
The confusion prevails all-over in the RTO and LTU offices, nobody exactly know how to deal with the daily affairs and sundry matters of the tax payers. Taxpayers are moving one window to another for redressal of their issues but in the absence of experienced staff, incomplete shifting of record files from old sales tax office to new one and computer programming problems, reflects an allover havoc picture.
The jurisdiction for over 274 taxpaying companies had been shifted to Large Tax Payers Unit, they had also received letter from the LTU, Karachi, but yet neither any specific notification was issued nor concern RTO or LTUs are in a position to explain and assist the taxpayers to who actually would deal their case.- PR
