Minister clarifies reports on prisoners recruitment in Daesh

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prison Ziaul Hassan Lanjar Wednesday has clarified that no inmate of Central Jail Karachi had been recruited by Daesh.

He termed the news published in a section of media pertaining to the alleged recruitment of prisoners as misleading, said a statement issued here.

He said that 90 percent high-profile prisoners had been transferred from Karachi to other districts of the province.

Lanjar further said that Jail Manual and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had separate powers and the CTD was not allowed to conduct any operation in the jail as well wherever the CTD would be required, it would be called in.

Moreover, Paramilitary (Rangers) were called in on department's request to conduct an operation in the jail.
