The scientists and research scholars while speaking at the inaugural session of a 3-day Pak-Turk seminar on chemical sciences have termed the research as life blood for the universities and called it essential for social and economic development. The scholars from Pakistan and Turkey underlined the importance of collaborative research and research oriented exchange programmes for scholars of both the countries.
The Pak-Turk seminar on chemical sciences is being organised by the National Centre of Excellence Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) at a local hotel in Hyderabad here on Friday. The scholars and scientists from Pakistan, Turkey, Bangladesh and India would present their research papers on different aspects of chemical sciences during different sessions of the seminar.
Chief guest, noted scholar and Chairman of Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee Government of Sindh Dr S.M. Qureshi said that research always helped in social and economic development. He said that science and hi-tech education were weapons for sustainability of nations where basic sciences were as important as any other fields.
Professor Dr Mustafa Ersoz, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Seluk University Turkey, speaking on the occasion said that the friendly relations between Turkish and Pakistan people date back to centuries. He said that the seminars and conferences were essential to boost research activities. Realizing the importance research, the present government has continued great emphasis on teaching and research in Pakistan.
In recent years, Dr Mughal said that higher education in Pakistan had gone through a paradigm shift and one could clearly notice the significant changes in the public sector Universities of Pakistan. "I am proud to have highly qualified faculty members utilising laboratories and producing quality research in the field of chemical sciences Dr Mughal said adding that the university was also committed to retain scientists, stimulating them and providing funds and other support to encourage and maintain their productivity.
