A large number of people from Balochistan has termed the government's decision to produce Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) before purchasing subsidised sugar from Utility Stores as unjust. Talking to Radio Mashaal, they say that a predominated population in Pukhtoon dominated areas of Balochistan do not possess identity cards for certain reasons.
A resident of Ziarat, Naqibullah termed the decision as unfortunate. People say that it is a gigantic task to buy sugar in open markets where the commodity is available at Rs 80 per kg. The new decision will make it further difficult for them to buy sugar from utility stores.
The central leader of Pukhtoonkhwa National Awami Party and former provincial minister Obaidullah Babak said that it is unjust decision. Sugar is a basic necessity and it is unjustified to make the production of identity card conditional for buying the commodity.
Meanwhile the Regional Manager Utility Stores Corporation Loralai, Rahim Tarin defended the decision saying that there were some people, who after buying the sugar from a utility store used to join the queue at another store to get the commodity. The people of the towns recognise each other and they can discourage this practice but it is difficult to thwart this trend at the cities.
