Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) launched phase 6 of Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) program in ten districts to promote quality education among the poor segments of the society who cannot afford such education for themselves. A total of 1337 PEF -Partner schools were already imparting quality education, under the FAS program, in remote and less developed areas of the province. It opened the door of education for the out of school and child labourers of the slum areas.
Chairman Chief Minister Task force for Elementary Education, Raja Muhammad Anwar while briefing the delegations of private schools management association and their faculty members on Friday. He said FAS program of the PEF had been launched in Rahim Yar Khan, Pakpattan, Okara, Sargodha, Attock, D.G Khan, Jehlum, Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Mandi Bahauddin and Layyah districts to enable the poor students of these areas equally gain from the agenda of providing quality education without any cost.
Under the program, textbooks were also provided free of cost. Raja maintained that this program was a right step towards achieving the goals of Universal Declaration of the Human Rights. He also said that Rs 350 per student for Elementary and Rs 400 per student for Secondary classes were being provided under the program.
