A Sub-Inspector Police and a dacoit were killed, while three injured, including two policemen during 15 hour-long exchange of fire, when dacoits clashed with police force in Mithianwala area of Police station Chak Jhumra, while four armed dacoits fled away from the spot.
According to police sources, the law enforcing agencies raided on the hideout of dacoits on a tip off in the area. Seeing the police party, the dacoits opened fire on them. Police retaliated strongly and after a long shootout, a dacoit was killed, two policemen injured while Muhammad Saleem Wirrach Sub-Inspector police embraced martyrdom.
However, four dacoits succeeded to flee. Ali Hussan, constable of Elite Force is admitted to nearby hospital, where his condition was reported to be serious. Punjab government has announced Rs 3 million for the heirs of the Sub-Inspector Muhammad Saleem Wirrach and his body sent to Gojra after Nimaz-e-Jinaza, which was offered in Police Line, Faisalabad.
