President Asif Ali Zardari has issued special instructions for developing the shrines of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and Qalandar Lal Shahbaz as model "dargahs" being symbol of honour and prestige of the soil of Pakistan and Sindh. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination and Incharge Bhit Shah development plan while chairing a meeting to review the Bhit Shah development project and renovation of shrine of Shah Latif Bhitai.
Briefing the meeting, the Project Director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha informed that in order to make Bhit Shah, the resting town of Sindh's sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, a 2-km long plantation drive was launched on both sides of the town's main gate as first phase of the pilot project and a nursery established outside. He said that to supply clean drinking water for the Town residents, a line had been laid from where 500 connections would be provided.
Besides, 23 additional rooms are being constructed in the government Science College and five rooms in the girls secondary school and computer lab and 90 percent work has been completed. He further informed that a playground had been developed to provide healthy activities to children and could also be used as children park.
Paracha said that steps were being taken to provide better health facilities to people with the co-operation of PPHI management. He said that in order to make Bhit Shah, a model town, complete co-operation of culture, irrigation, auqaf, health and education departments, Sajjadah Nashin and district government Matiari was available. The minister appreciated the steps taken by the Project Director for beautification of Bhit Shah and said a detailed report thereof be submitted to him.
The shrine's Sajjadah Nashin, Pir Nazan Sain called for immediate renovation of the Mazar and repair of the Haveli. In this regard Makhdoom Jamil-uz-Zaman set up a 4-member committee headed by Shafiq Paracha with the directive to chalk out a line of action for immediate repair of Dargah.
He also issued directives for providing better facilities to zaireens at the dargah. The meeting was attended by Secretary Auqaf Iqbal Zaidi, Secretary Inter-provincial co-ordination, Maula Bux Kathian, DCO Matiari Saqib Soomro and other concerned officials.
