The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has reconstituted appellate benches for speedy hearing of cases against the orders of the Commission. The CCP has suppressed SRO52 (1)/2008 and SRO 634(1)/2008 through an SRO 70(I)/2010 of February 12, 2010. The decision has been taken to facilitate the undertakings for timely processing of appeals, etc.
According to the notification, the CCP has reconstituted the following three Appellate Benches: Appellate Bench No 1. - Comprising Member (Legal) and Member (Mergers & Acquisitions) against an order of the Member (Cartels, Monopolies & Trading Abuses). Appellate Bench No 2. - Comprising Member (Cartels, Monopolies & Trading Abuses) and Member (Policy, Planning, Research & International Affairs) to hear appeals against an order of the Member (Mergers & Acquisitions).
Appellate Bench No 3. - Comprising Member (Cartels, Monopolies & Trading Abuses) and Member (Mergers & Acquisitions) to hear appeals against orders of the Member (Legal) and Member (Policy, Planning, Research & International Affairs). Chairman of the Commission may, in his discretion, also be a part of any Appellate Bench, the notification added.
