Net Hydel Profit: Rs five billion second instalment released to Punjab, says Kaira

Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said the second instalment of Net Hydel Profit of Rs 5 billion has been released to the Punjab government as the federation has started paying instalments of NHP. He disclosed this while talking to a delegation of the MPAs here on Saturday, an official disclosed. He also told that so far the Punjab government received Rs 10 billion.
"The government has taken a firm stance regarding outstanding dues in respect of NHP and made sincere efforts in this regard. The NHP is the constitutional right of Punjab," he added. He further said the federation would pay Rs 28 billions to Punjab under the head of NHP and the amount would be paid within 4 years. He also said that since 1996 Punjab had been deprived of its legal right of NHP. "The present government has evolved an effective strategy and succeeded in getting approval of its demand from the federation," he added.
