As many as 427 students and teachers took part in as many as 22 sports competitions on the second day of 110th annual sports of the Government College University (GCU), Lahore on Saturday. Muhammad Zeeshan of Geography Department won the 5000 Meters Race by covering the distance in 18:29:06 seconds, while Hafiz Tahir of FA (Part I) stood second with 18:36.10 seconds.
Muhammad Zeeshan also won the 1500 Meters race by covering the distance in 4:29:10 seconds. GCU Intermediate student Nasir Ali won the Pole Vault. History lectures Itsham Saeed and Noor Khurram won the 4x100 Meters relay for the staff members. Amir Ali Khan bagged the top slot in Triple Jump, while Altaf Hussain stood second. Waqas Naeem of Islamic Studies Department won the 400 Meters Hurdles race. GCU Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Aftab congratulated the sportsmen who have won prizes and medals in various competitions.
