Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Sunday termed the strike call announced by President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Qazi Anwar, as "unnecessary", saying that the matter is already sub judice and certain directions has already been passed.
The executive committee of the PBC met here with its Chairman Chaudhry Nasrullah Waraich in the chair. Former President of SCBA Ali Ahmad Kurd, Senator Kazim Khan, former Vice Chairman PBC Haji Said Rehman, Chaudhry Ashraf Wahla, and Mohammad Yasin Azad also attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed an application challenging the election results of SCBA President Qazi Mohammed Anwar by Barrister Bacha.
Bacha also filed another application in which he contended that Qazi Anwar had been convicted by a court of law in a case so he was ineligible to hold the office of President SCBA. Qazi Anwar informed the PBC body that former president of Peshawar High Court Bar association had summoned a Jirga to resolve the issue. The executive committee resolved that the matter would be decided on February 25.
