The workers of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Sunday held rallies across country to express solidarity with President Asif Ali Zardari. In the federal capital, a rally was taken out in front of the National Press Club (NPC). The PPP workers gathered in large number in front of the NPC.
They were carrying placards inscribed with slogans in support of PPP Co-Chairperson and President Asif Ali Zardari. They also chanted slogans "Long live Asif Ali Zardari", "We are with You" and "Aik Zardari Sub Pe Bhari".
In Rawalpindi, hundreds of PPP leaders and workers gathered here at Benazir Bhutto's memorial despite heavy rain and marched up to Rawalpindi Press Club. They expressed full confidence in President Asif Ali Zardari.
Strongly criticising Nawaz Sharif's statement against the President, they raised slogans against the head of Pakistan Muslim League.
In Lahore, the PPP workers held a rally in front of Lahore Press Club. Addressing the rally the PPP leaders said President Zardari had not taken any unconstitutional step while appointing judges to superior courts.
Addressing the rally , PPP Punjab President Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan said the PPP always adhered to the observance of law and never resorted to any move aimed at violating the Constitution.
In Peshawar, hundreds of PPP workers and members of Peoples' Student Federation (PSF) staged a sit-in in front of the Peshawar Press Club to express support for President Zardari .
The participants of the rally were holding placards inscribed with slogans in favour of the President. PPP Karachi Division also staged a demonstration in support of the President outside the Karachi Press Club.
The participants of the protest expressed solidarity with President. They also approved a resolution through which full confidence was shown into the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Addressing the participants, the speakers said the decision about appointment of superior courts judges was taken in accordance with the law and Constitution.
