It is known to everyone that back in 2013, 1 billion Yahoo accounts were hacked. Now, after four years the number of these hackings has been changed.

According to Yahoo, 3 billion accounts of Yahoo were a victim to the data hack that took place four years ago in 2013, in short, every single account on Yahoo was hacked. Marking it as the biggest ever attack in the history of internet, these 3 billion accounts are more than the number of users on social media sites including Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.

The data regarding the accounts was revealed after Verizon conducted an investigation after getting hold of Yahoo in a deal of $4.48 billion. However, the stolen information about the hacks did not include any passwords in clear texts, credit card or bank information but, for sure included email addresses, passwords, birth dates, telephone numbers and more.

143mn affected in hack of US credit agency

Due to this rise in the number of hacked accounts, Yahoo is most likely to witness a rise in the amount of consumer class-action lawsuits in US state and federal courts. Also, because of these hackings, Verizon has already cut down acquisition prices by $350 million but, because of the increase in number of accounts hacked, they might have to cut down further, Tech Juice reported.

According to Yahoo, they will start alerting the accounts that were not formerly alerted about the breach, informed CNBC.
