Preparations for celebrating Eid Milad-ul-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) have started gaining momentum as the government and different religious parties and organisations have chalked out a number of programmes to celebrate the birth of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), with great reverence and devotion.
Like every year, the Federal government as well as the provincial governments and AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan governments have planned a number of activities to celebrate the event. In Pakistan, this year, the day falls on February 27 and the faithful in the country would attend 'Mahafil' of recitation from the Holy Qur'an and 'Naats'.
The day begins with special thanksgiving after Fajr prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country, while a public holiday, as usual, will be observed throughout the country. The educational institutions would hold special programmes, which also conclude prayers for the prosperity, development of the country and welfare of the people. Besides, newspapers and magazines would publish special supplements, while television channels and radio station would arrange special `Naatia Mushairas' and quiz programmes on Seerat-e-Mustafa (PBUH).
