Peasants, farmers and tenants of Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pirowal, and Okara have decided to launch a long march from Khanewal to Punjab Assembly to safeguard their rights and save the future of their children. This was decided in a meeting in Khanewal Monday in which the participants said that on 9 March 2010, they would go on a long march from Khanewal Niazi Chowk to Lahore Assembly Hall.
The long march would be attended by almost 60000 sixty thousands participants. Anjuman 'Muzareen' Punjab's founder and Chairman Fr. Younas Iqbal hoped that more than 60000 sixty thousands people would observe sit-in in front of the Assembly Hall and Chief Minister's House till the Chief Minister announces the proprietary rights to farmers, who had developed and made the land arable.
Iqbal said that in to make the programme successful, all arrangements have been completed. Wall chalking, banners, posters and booklets are being distributed among the muzareens and peasants, he said adding that the march will be joined by women and children also. Anjuman Muzareen's slogan is "Ownership Or Death," (Malki or Mout, he said. Participants from all over Punjab farms namely Okara Military Farm, Pakpatan farm, Iqbal Nagar farm, Sahiwal seed farm, Fasilabad, Lahoer, Sargodhda farm, Multan and Rahimyar Khan's Robert Farm joined the meeting.
