Pakistan captured some $0.5 million worth leather exports orders from Vietnam and Indonesia during a week. Pakistan Tanners Association's 11-Member trade delegation led by Gulzar Firoz, Chairman, returned to Pakistan after a very successful tour of Vietnam and Indonesia from 1 to 6th February 2010.
The delegation visited Ho Chi Minh City on February 01 and 02 where the Ambassador of Pakistan Shahid G. M. Kiani and his staff received the delegation personally at the Airport. The delegation during their stay met counter parts ie Ho Chi Minh Shoes and Leather Association and other members of the Association.
One to one meetings were also held with the buyers and successful trial orders were obtained and many orders are in the pipeline. The Footwear Industry of Vietnam is expected to export $4.2 Billion and therefore they need very large quantity of finished leather and other sectors also. The delegation also visited some tanneries and large shoe factories.
PTA trade delegation also visited Indonesia and Jakarta and met Footwear Association and Tanners Association of Indonesia. A very detailed programme was organised by the Pakistan Embassy under the supervision of Ambassador Sanaullah which invited more than 50 buyers from Tanneries, Shoes Factories, Gloves Manufacturers etc and the members of PTA held one to one meetings on both days and successful initial orders were obtained.
"Total business concluded during the visit in both the countries was about $3 Lac and further $2 Lac are under negotiation," said chairman PTA Gulzar Feroz. Indonesia the tanneries are producing only 30 percent of the requirements of the Leather for manufacturing sectors and therefore there is a very big scope of selling Semi Finished and Fully Finished Leathers, he said.-PR
