Punjab government is spending Rs 18.5 billion on different health schemes and provision of free health cover in the Province. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that under the programme, ultra modern emergency wards in 10 district headquarters of Punjab would be established where medical facilities, CT Scan and MRI services would be made available and the patients would also be able to get diagnostic facilities under one roof.
Work on the project would soon be carried out, they added. The step was being taken for mitigating the travelling problems confronting the patients as well as to ensure standard treatment facilities at their doorsteps. Besides the government was also spending Rs 6.5 billion on the provision of free health cover to the masses at tehsil level across the province.
Under the programme, improved and modern health facilities would be ensured at tehsil level to facilitate the masses in their respective areas. Apart from this, the government was also focusing on medical education with a view to improving doctor-to-patient ratio while nursing education was on top of the agenda of the government. Partnership with the private sector in this regard would be further strengthened in the province, sources said.
