Soon our phones or laptops will get way faster due to the new Li-Fi technology.

Chinese scientists introduced Light Fidelity, abbreviated as Li-Fi, which uses the technology of visible light from LED bulbs for transferring data in comparison to the Wi-Fi technology that makes use of radio waves for data transferring.

After various successful experiments, the new technology is reportedly 100 times faster than the already existing Wi-Fi technology. Li-Fi is not yet commercially available but, it is believed that it would be made available commercially in nearly 6 years.

“It should be so cheap that it’s everywhere. The visible light spectrum comes for free,” said the scientists.

Netherlands introducing technology program in Pakistan

According to Tech Juice, being a lot faster than Wi-Fi, Li-Fi can allow people to quickly get their work done, saving numerous hours each day. The transferred data through this technology is efficient, widespread and secure.

Associate researcher Qu Songnan expressed, “Many researchers around the world are still working on this. We were the first to successfully create it using cost-effective raw materials such as urea with simple processing.”

The tests showed that Li-Fi can reach speeds of 50 gigabytes per second. Scientists revealed that cheap solar cells can be used as a receiver for Li-Fi. Several countries including Russia and Mexico are also developing technologies based on Li-Fi, reported Metro News.
