As many as 879 public welfare development schemes will be completed at a cost of Rs 4.5 billion under annual development programme (ADP) of Punjab government. This was informed in a meeting held here under the chairmanship of DCO Saeed Wahlah at his committee room. The meeting reviewed the latest progress of implementation of uplift schemes.
The meeting was informed that the development schemes included education, health, literacy, special education, roads, buildings and other sectors for which funds of Rs 2.72 billion had been released for implementing the schemes during the current financial year.
While reviewing the progress of executing departments, the DCO expressed his concerns over slow pace of development work and directed the concerned departments that any kind of administrative and technical obstacle should immediately be removed for accelerating the process of implementation of uplift projects under this programme. He said that the development schemes should immediately be started for which tenders have been approved by the executing agencies.
The DCO stressed upon the quality construction work and effective monitoring of the entire process of completing the projects. He urged the timely utilisation of available funds transparently and warned the concerned departments would be held responsible in case of any lapse in this regard.
He said that the next meeting for reviewing the implementation of ADP would be held after three weeks and the performance of executing agencies should be further improved by the first week of March 2010. The meeting was attended by EDO Works Muhammad Aslam, EDO Education Sohaib Imran, EDO Health Captain Dr Muhammad Siddique, DO Roads Ghulam Hussain Sindhu, DO Buildings Muhammad Nawaz Gazi, DO Planning Mahr Muhammad Ramzan and others officers.
