The profit after tax of Kot Addu Power Company (Kapco) has increased to Rs 1.380 billion in the quarter ended December 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 1.175 billion earned in the corresponding quarter in 2008. The company's earning per share increased to Rs 1.57 in the period under review against Rs 1.34 in the same quarter in a year back.
On half yearly basis, the company's after tax earning increased to Rs 2.716 billion translating earning per share at Rs 3.09 in the six months period in 2009 against a profit of Rs 2.711 billion with per share earning of Rs 3.08 recorded in the same period in 2008. The board of directors in its meeting held on Wednesday recommended an interim cash dividend at Rs 2.25 per share ie 22.50 percent.
According to the financial results, the company's sales increased to Rs 41.107 billion in the half year period in 2009 against Rs 39.656 billion in the same period of 2008. The cost of sales increased to Rs 35.946 billion against Rs 34.218 billion. The company's profit before tax increased to Rs 4.175 billion in the six months period in 2008 against Rs 4.169 billion recorded in the same period in 2008.
