City Traffic Police in collaboration with Unicef and health department have launched a special campaign to administer anti-polio drops to the children under five years of age travelling with their parents on roads. As many as 18 camps have been established in different areas of the city district where male, female traffic wardens, health officials and representative of Unicef are administering anti-polio vaccination to the children.
Giving the details of the campaign Chief Traffic Officer, (CTO), Asif Zafar Cheema told that this programme would continue till February 18 and so far 4000 children have been given polio drops in this campaign.
He said that eradication of polio from the country was a national cause and city traffic police had always played a constructive role for its fulfilment. Meanwhile, City Traffic Police, Red Crescent and Rescue 1122 through joint efforts have completed a training programme through which special training have been imparted to the 1100 girls guides.
A special ceremony held at government Kohinoor Girls High School on Wednesday to give away certificates and special shields among the trained girls. Addressing the ceremony the CTO said that professional training to girls would not only enhance their capabilities and self-confidence, but also create among them a desire for voluntary services.
