Chairman Chief Minister Task Force for Elementary Education, Raja Muhammad Anwar, has said that Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will adopt 150 non-operational schools of Punjab from the total 1050 schools of the province on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif. He said that out of 30 schools, which will be adopted by the foundation are from Cholistan.
He was addressing a press conference at PEF Secretariat on Thursday. He said that Chief Minister has ordered this due to the quality work of foundation in the education sector. He said that most of the schools, which will be adopted by the foundation, are from the less developed districts of Southern Punjab. He announced that from the next year the examination of fifth and eighth class of all the students of public and private sector will be conducted by Punjab Examination Commission (PEC).
He said that the purpose of this initiative is to create uniformity in the syllabus of all the public and private schools. He also announced that only those students will get admissions in sixth and ninth class who will passed the examination from the PEC. He said government has also decided to give the status of board to the PEC.
Raja said that directives have been issued to the Executive District Officers (Education) to complete the survey of all the private schools of the province and register them before April 15. He also announced that education foundation would provide five computers along with printers and UPS to its affiliated schools for the enhancement of information technology in the province.
Raja said that foundation will spent Rs five billion for imparting quality and economical education to the students. About the projects of PEF, he said that foundation is successfully running its programmes, such as Foundation Assisted School Programme, New School Programme, Continuous Teachers Development Programme and Education Voucher Scheme programme.
